The Story of Hodges,

In the spring of 1967, with one trailer, six canoes and a truck, Floyd and Margaret Hodges went into business. The business was named Hodges Float Trips. The Lady Margaret L. Hodges, who would eventually become known as "Granny" to everyone, became sole owner in 1978 at the age of 62 years young. Margaret took control of everything - greeting customers, getting paddles and cushions, transportation, etc. When she became very busy she would have two boys help, usually her grandson and other relatives.

Hodges Float Trips was sold in the fall of 1990. When things did not work out with the new owners, three years later, Margaret got the canoe business back. At the age of 77 she was running canoes again.

Hodges canoes went up for sale again, her daughter Mrs. Gardner knew the owners of Monitor Canoe Trips and approached them with the idea of purchasing Hodges Float Trips.

In December of 1995 Joseph and Merrily Rehwinkel became the new owners. Having been in the canoe business themselves for 18 years, they were pleased to take over such a long established business.

The Tippecanoe River is ranked as one of the nicest rivers in North America. The river's amazingly clear waters and scenery make for an enjoyable trip. With the waters so clean, fishing is great and the fish are edible. We hope you enjoy your visit with Hodges Canoe Trips and be sure to tell others about it. Thank you.
