Core Farms CSA began as a "community supported agriculture" operation. CSA consists of a community of individuals and families who pledge support to the farms operation and share the risks and benefits of local food production. Our CSA families pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farms operation. In return, they receive share's in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as the satisfaction gained from reconnecting to the land and participating directly in local food production. CSA families also share in the risks of farming, including poor harvests due to unfavorable weather or pests.
Core Farms CSA began in the summer of 2004, with 24 families participating in our 20 week summer season, creating connections between families and farmers. During the 2013 season we grew produce for over 100 families (for the sixth straight season), and we just finishing our twelfth summer CSA season.
We are proud to say that many of our original families are still with us!
As Core Farms CSA continues to educate our community about the importance of buying and eating fresh locally grown produce, we will provide knowledge about food production through hands-on workshops, family garden series, and plant a row projects. Amy and Andy Hamilton created Core Farms CSA, farm vegetables at their farm, New Growth Gardens, also own and operate Musgrave Orchard. They appreciate the past and future support from the numerous families who have supported them and their farms for the past six years.
